Wow! This school year is flying by so fast that I haven't even had time to post on my blog! Well, here is my chance to catch-up...
Since my last post, I have learned SO much in my role as a Partnership Resource Teacher. I have opened my eyes to a world of possibilities within this profession and am so excited to be a part of UTRPP!
Of course, with this role comes a lot of responsibility. I am a part of a major inquiry project that I will be co-presenting at the NAPDS Conference in Atlanta in about a month. What our team is examining is how our UTRPP graduates have been able to transition from residents in a pre-service program to in-service instructional personnel in the school district. Additionally, we are working with the principals who hired our UTRPP graduates and examining the qualities they look for in teachers at their school. The articles and artifacts we have looked at provide a foundation for our inquiry, but our surveys and interviews with the graduates and principals are the rich-information we are really looking at for our presentation. Ultimately, we would love to be able to tie-in these responses to the quantitative Evaluating Effective Teachers Rubric, which the school district utilizes to evaluate all classroom teachers, to gather further data. Ideally, with all of the qualitative and quantitative data, our inquiry will lead to further investigation and research at the University level.
This is extremely exciting work because it will allow for me, as a PRT, to better understand how I can improve upon my role and how to be more effective for our residents and, ultimately, the children they work with everyday!
